Sabrina Baxter is married to a ruthless man who has beaten her into submission the three years they’ve been married. She's terrified of her husband, Alex, and regularly contemplates suicide, knowing it's the only way to be free of him.

And then one day, while in the hospital recovering from one of Alex's brutal beatings, she is swept out of the hospital in Pennsylvania by people who aim to return her to her proper place – at home in Idaho with her sister. Except Sabrina is terrified they’re taking her back to Alex; returning her to her hellish prison.

The group separates to get the dogs off Sabrina’s scent. She’s forced to travel with Travis Gunn, who has been charged with the task of getting her away from Alex. With Travis’ quiet nature and gruff personality, she’s confident he doesn’t like her or want this mission of protecting her. Even thought Travis seems highly competent, there’s not a doubt in her mind that Alex will find them and take her back. Nightmares keep her up with these thoughts.

Alex puts the word out within the biker community and there’s a bounty issued for each of them. He’d tried to kill Travis once, while in prison, and failed. He’s confident that if he can get his hands on Travis one more time, he’ll succeed in getting rid of him for good. And as a bonus, he’ll have his beautiful wife back.

Things don't work out for Alex Baxter as planned. In fact, they blow up in his face.

As for Sabrina? She begins the long, slow process of shedding the fear that Alex will find her and evolves into the strong, confident woman she was meant to become.
