Staff Sergeant John Rathborne and his canine partner, Koda, work diligently to keep their unit safe by locating hidden dangers. When an IED explodes damaging his legs and brain, John medically retires from the Army. An administrative oversight separates him from Koda, and John faces the difficult recovery on his own.

Attempting to reintegrate into civilian life after months of therapy, John takes a job as a foreman at the cattle ranch that adopted Koda. His new boss accepts his physical limitations and the wide open spaces help his transition. But John Clashes with the ranch owner’s surly daughter, Katie. They fight over ledgers and incorporating technology into the ranch operations, but beneath the battles there’s an undeniable spark.

Being put in charge after Katie’s father is hospitalized, John moves into the bunk house so Katie isn’t left alone. She lets her guard down, showing John her softer side and igniting the spark into a wildfire that becomes hard to control. Realizing someone is trying to sabotage the business after a fence is broken and cattle go missing, the pair must learn to trust each other to find the culprit before they lose the ranch.
