The Omahu and Gunn families have been in conflict for generations, ever since Jack Gunn’s ancestors ‘stole’ Glory Omahu’s family land. Now Glory and Jack have returned to their New Zealand coastal hometown with very different goals.
Glory, living her dream and with a shop in Kaingatoi’s historic store, aims to heal the rift between the families, while Jack has reluctantly returned to his ‘hick hometown’ to run his long-established family boat building business.
When Glory sees her family’s taonga (treasures) – pounamu and bone pendants, including a long-lost heart – in the Gunn homestead, she secretly swaps some for modern copies. Guilt haunts her, but she justifies her deceit when Jack’s grand ambitions for the growing village threaten her business.
But then Glory and Jack realize they are attracted. As their connection deepens, secrets are shared and events unfold in the community that challenge their values, beliefs and relationship.
Can love overcome generations of mistrust, a clash of cultures and stolen family treasures?
