This book takes place in 1452. It shows Aefre and Constantine each growing in different ways and it is the starting point of Aefre finally taking back control of her life after her torment at the hands of her Vampire sibling, Lance, and we also see Constantine’s feelings grow ever deeper for his beloved and how he will go to any length necessary to keep her as just his. There are characters that threaten to come between them, but after more than one deceptive compromise, Aefre seemingly gets what she wants from her sire. But is Aefre’s desire to fully embrace her Vampire nature coupled with Constantine’s past refusal to give her his whole heart the beginning of the end for them?
