When forty-eight year old Adeline Hubble, a journalist by trade, comes to spend the summer at her Mother's former cottage on Crystal Creek, she's hoping the time alone will help heal her broken heart. The last thing she wants is a story to cover, any civic conflicts to get involved with, or romance.

On her first day, Adeline will discover something and is approached by the local paper to cover the story. Later she is drawn into attending a public meeting regarding a potential prison being built near town. Last, but not lease, she finds a local man becoming a distraction in spite of the rumors running amuck regarding his unsavory reputation.

Adeline will learn that the only way to mend a broken heart, is to be open to the possibility that she can and will find love again.
