The oceans couldn’t hold their life anymore. We tried to save them. So many creatures were washing up on the shores. A lot of species were lost. In school we read about the past. Water was pure, clean. You could swim in it. People had pools of it in their backyards. Now we only send workers in with protective gear on.

Water companies rule the world now. They hold government seats. In some places they are the government. Only the rich can afford a good supply of running water. Actually having it coming out of a tap in your home but, they keep watch. Near each tap is a meter and warning light.

Protected from the outside world her whole life, 18 year old Brielle La Croix is forced to go into hiding believing it's only for a time. But after her mother goes missing, she must join the fight against Aqueous to protect the small sovereign she has taken refuge in. Humility will be her biggest ally as she becomes everything she never wanted to be.
