The club was semi dark. The dance floor held the only source of multi-colored light. Marie was sitting at a table close to the dance floor. Her girlfriends, Carla & Sarah were dancing & she smiled. Glancing around, she looked up & met Lee’s eyes as he was walking by. She held his gaze & wondered, How long has he kept it to himself? Everyone around Marie no longer existed. As if Lee had read her mind he broke the gaze, turning to return to his friends at another table. Marie was overwhelmed with the shock of feelings that slammed into her. Her chest felt tight & she was breathing quickly. She felt overly hot, then shivered with coldness. At this moment Marie realized she was in love. Not that this was the first time she had seen Lee, on the contrary she knew him very well. Maybe too well. She & Lee had grown up together. They had been the best of friends throughout high school. Even between college they had spoken to each other often. But Lee was no little boy anymore. He was a tall, lean man with dark hair & bright blue eyes & he was well built.
