“She’s coming back to us.”
She could only be one person.
“Katherine.” Her name was a hushed breath, a whispered embrace... a nail in his coffin.
“You need to come back.”
I don’t want to go back. I can’t go back. We’ll destroy each other.
Again.

Two years. Eight months, two weeks and how many days? Three. And who knew the hours…he wasn’t that anal.
He could actually make out the thumping of blood through the vessels in his head, the onset of nerves, panic almost…perhaps a surge of adrenalin? She could do that to him. She was the only one with the ability to make his body react in such a way, hence the reason he had to stay away.
And he did, for almost three years, but now? Now he would go back to what? Finish the job? Continue the charade? Finally receive the closure he was due? Who knew…the only thing he did know was that she would have absolutely no idea who he was.
