“I missed you” Miles whispered.

My body was responding to him in ways I wished it wouldn’t, and I knew I should move awayfrom him to keep myself from falling into the same dark trap I fell into after his mother died…the one I was only just starting to climb out of. If I fell again, I wasn’t so sure I’d ever find my way out.

If only I could believe him. If only I knew how he truly felt about me.

My doubts increased even more when I became a pawn in Dominic’s sinister plan to exact revenge on Miles and his family. I suddenly was staring at endless photos of Miles and his ex-fiancée, Claire—some even taken during our honeymoon. My heart was hurting and my mind couldn’t even begin to wrap itself around what everything meant.

Apparently, Dominic thought Miles held deeper feelings for me than I even I was aware: “I think he’d do just about anything for you. And I think that he would go insane if he knew you and I…”

If only I could be so sure.

My heart wanted Miles to rescue me from wherever it was that Dominic held me captive, but my mind wasn’t so sure that he would.
