Independence by Janet Cooper
In England, in 1786, Katherine Randolph is a continual embarrassment. Challenging Jonathan Drew to a curricle race tips the scales. She is sent to America to stay until society forgets her latest faux pas.

Jonathan Drew is a spy for the British. When his government receives news the French are seeking American support for an uprising in Canada, Jonathan is sent to destroy the operation.

Meanwhile, Katherine involves herself in the Constitutional Convention. She enjoys the free lifestyle and has no desire to wed and give up her independence. Jonathan shares her view on both subjects.

Will they manage to work together to thwart the rebellion? Can they understand that independence can go in tandem with love?
