EXCERPT:

Friends? Did he call us his friends? Christie kept scanning his gargantuan body with her deep brown eyes. She was speechless for the first time in as long as I’d known her. But Becky was a nervous talker. Flushed, she said, “Overman, it’s great to meet you. But we’ve never met before. Did you say we were your friends?”
His voice was deep and sweet, audible dark chocolate. “Well, I know I haven’t met any of you yet. I’d never be able to forget the three of you.” He looked around at us, his eyes running us up and down, rivaling Christie’s ravenous lust. “We aren’t friends yet, but I think you forgot about my super-hearing.”
His super hearing! He must have heard everything. I was embarrassed, but was that really that bad of a thing? Sometimes I wish everyone could be completely honest with each other, that we could tell everyone every little thought we had about them. Wouldn’t that make most everything that much easier?
Christie was practically drooling. Becky was staring with wide-eyes, a mix of fear and excitement. I wanted to know what Overman was going to say next. After all, he hadn’t heard my deepest fantasy. He laughed heartily and said “I know we’re not friends yet, but I heard everything you three said. I think we should be friends.” I saw a devilish smile curl beneath his mask. His eyes curved up with mischief.
