Sophie Foster is delighted when she learns that her Papa and their hired man would both be gone the same week, and they had no boarders staying at their place a mile out of town! It meant she would have some precious time alone to do whatever she pleased. She didn't count on the drifter she met in town showing up unannounced in her parlor and telling her he wanted a room. She lied and told him she wasn't accepting boarders, and the handsome man dared to put her over his knee for lying! She would have shot him, but he claimed he had news she needed to know.

Trevor Morrison felt like he'd been kicked hard in the stomach the very second he set eyes on the pretty Miss Sophie. And even though it galled him to admit it, his brother Tomas was right. It was possible to fall in love at first sight! But, that same love made it all the more important to him that Sophie not lie, not curse, and above all else, he wanted her to obey… especially when it counted. He figured that with Sophie's feisty nature it would take a good fifty or sixty years to deal with her snippy attitude.
