Approximately 30,000 words.

Family responsibilities bring curvy native islander and professional tattoo artist Sela Isaia back home from Los Angeles to the fictional South Pacific island of Kava’ali’i in order to take care of her father after he has a stroke.

Once she arrives in Kava’ali’i, fate crosses her path with champion surfer Lani Thompson, a descendant of Australian expats, who is home on break. Lani was the person who rushed Sela’s father Jesse to the hospital, and he has been taking care of her father while she has been away.

Both Lani and Sela’s father are members of the longstanding notorious Polynesian surf gang, the Sharkpak, a group of the roughest and toughest surfers along the Pacific Rim. And the gang is harboring a sacred secret. The members of the Sharpak are the last remnants of a secret society called the Tenifa Kekoa — a feared, elite unit of sharkshifting warriors – created by a powerful kahuna – who can turn into sharks that can attack both at sea and upon land.

When Lani asks Sela to tattoo him the traditional Polynesian way, they both realize they are about to break a local taboo. On Kava’ali’i, women are not allowed to tattoo men. But they both decide to throw caution to the wind, and soon they find themselves starting to become secretly obsessed with each other, appearing in each other’s steamy dreams.

Sela then begins to realize there is more than mere symbolism attached to the Sharkpak’s gang imprint – a shark tattoo inked on each member’s inner wrist. She always was daddy’s little girl, but her father has been hiding something from her since she was a child…
