Impasse by Laurel Oke Logan
Esther Branson is an aspiring broadcast news anchor whose rise to the top takes on a grave pallor when she begins to take a deeper look at the stories she uncovers every day. Her fiancé, however, is a high-powered executive who has helped to fashion Esther's career and who is convinced that her only goal should be to report the news.

What of Jon Shepherd, a local schoolteacher who has come under vicious fire merely for suggesting an alternate theory to evolution? When the school board rules that he has violated his contract by espousing creation science rather that the textbook data, Jon must decide whether to resign quietly, never to teach again, or to be thrust into a fiery court case.

Both Esther and Jon are forced to make extraordinary decisions even though the outcome is shadowed in controversy. Will they choose to stand for truth? Or be swept away in the tide of compromise?
