Desperate Measures by Ellen Wolf
Melissa Albright needs to land her new job as a manager of Whispering Pines, a hotel in the foggy, heather covered hills of Scotland. Becoming a part of the Beckett emporium means money and security. She is in dire need of both, the paycheck for her grandma’s nursing home impossible to be waved away. She needs the money to cover all her expenses and she needs it now.

She is determined to make it happen, no matter the sacrifices. Even if it means being extra nice to Cal Beckett, the black sheep of the Beckett’s clan. Not that he is her kind of a man. After all he has been sent to the hotel as a punishment for his ill-conceived romance with the wife of his godfather, Robert McCarthy. Unfortunately it is up to him to make the final decision if she is suitable to run the place.

Cal Beckett surprises her from the moment they meet in her office. Instead of an arrogant, spoiled womanizer she had expected, he is kind, smart, funny and… very attractive. Suddenly the idea of trying to work her feminine charms on him to get what she wants doesn’t seem so bad.

Cal has his own idea of what should happen between them, of course. It starts with getting Melissa closer and if it involves promising her the job she is so much after, he is more than happy to oblige.

Neither of them can know that their lives have already been intertwined, the dots still too pale to be connected, but definitely present.
