Midnight's Atonement by Isobelle Cate
Graeme is a former Templar Knight and Cynn Cruor immortal injured in the siege of Dac Valerian’s fortress on the Isle of Man. He does not want to become less in his brethren’s eyes so he trains harder than any of them. While he heals in the Faesten, he comes across a woman who stirs his blood, and his desire to possess and protect. He is hell bent on seducing her, but his plan falls flat until one incident that will bring them together.

Kate Corrigan is an investigative journalist following a lead on a councillor, Elliot Hammond, who is allegedly connected to human trafficking. She meets Graeme and the attraction she feels overwhelms her, but she backs away refusing to let anyone into her heart. Later, Kate needs Graeme’s help when her friends are kidnapped. She believes that Hammond can wield his influence over the police force, convincing them not to investigate her claims any further. The last person she would have expected to help her is Graeme. Graeme finds out that the person Kate is after is the very person he has been searching for unbeknownst to Kate, Elliot Hammond is an immortal. Kate is given a dilemma where she will have to choose.

The attraction between Kate and Graeme cannot be denied and they finally surrender to the throes of passion where neither of them will come out unscathed. Will the feelings they have for each other be more than enough to get them through this storm? Will Graeme be a better man and be the one to break through the walls of Kate’s heart?
