Duncan MacRae is a man with nothing left to lose. Chased out of his homeland and across the sea, he is barely settled in the new world before he loses his beloved wife. When a ragtag group of former clansmen propose a dangerous journey into the frontier, he agrees to come along, undeterred by the prospect of almost certain death.
