When a patriotic noblewoman comes into possession of secret plans vital to England's fight against Napoleon, she impulsively rushes to London to deliver the secrets herself. On the way, however, she is set upon by mysterious assassins, and saved by the rakish, but destitute Earl of Davenport. He offers her a deal: he will escort her safely to London...for a sum of money to refill his empty coffers. But as they pursued across the countryside, they discover a love that goes beyond price!
