A young Faolan comes of age with the aid of the Wolf-Prince, who teaches him how to become a man, to hunt, to provide for his mother and sisters. As Faolan grows and becomes the responsible adult Ad'en had known he would be, love grows, but Ad'en knows love between them can never be more than an unfulfilled wish.
