Getting Friendly by Moira McTark
Can twelve years of friendship survive one night of no-strings sex?

Nichole has a problem. Matt's been feeding her fantasy file again. She can't sleep, she's burned through two vibrators in as many months, and now she's eyeing her best friend without benefits like he's her favorite flavor of candy. Convinced this out-of-control attraction will destroy the most important relationship in her life, Nichole sees only one way to get Matt out of her system...by getting him into her bed.

Matt may have his own set of rules when it comes to Nicki and the strict lines he won’t cross, but Nichole’s willing to play dirty… tempting her BFF with her most secret fantasies and the promise of her ultimate surrender.

Warning: This book contains desperate acts by a determined woman, light bondage, frank and graphic language, and twelve years’ worth of sexual frustration coming to head in one night of erotic escape.

GETTING FRIENDLY was previously published by Cobblestone Press and has since been revised and expanded. Moira McTark is the pen name under which Mira Lyn Kelly writes Erotic Romance.

EXCERPT:
CHAPTER ONE
February 14th

Twelve years of friendship. In all that time, he hadn’t done it. And he wasn’t going to do it now. Absolutely not.
Matt Reeves stood with Nichole folded in his arms, the limits of platonic stretching with every ragged breath and each passing car—making the wet shush of tires sluicing through the day’s accumulation of melting snow outside, the soundtrack to this moment of weakening resolve. Jaw clenched, he willed himself to let her go.
Nichole peered up at him, her over-bright blue eyes glistening beneath a dark fringe of damp lashes. “Everything was falling apart. Everything I’d worked so hard for. My company. My reputation. It all hinges on the Kink opening tonight.”
Their stares held a moment too long, and a tiny furrow pulled between her brows as her gaze drifted to his mouth. Breath feathering in soft puffs against the open collar of his shirt, she wet her lips with the pink tip of her tongue. Lingered briefly in that suspended state of indecision, before bringing her questioning focus back to his eyes. “You’re saving me.”
Matt swallowed hard, warning himself this was gratitude. Misplaced emotion under the guise of attraction. Nothing more. The model hired for the club opening that night had broken his leg an hour before, putting Nicki into a panic that she wouldn’t be able to deliver on her proposal. As it happened, Matt fit the bill, and had been willing to step in.
He’d bailed her out of a jam, and now she was looking at him like her own personal hero. The firm stroke to his ego, fortifying the rebel force staging a coup beneath his belt. But the uprising was one he needed to tamp down. Fast.
Nichole was his best friend. Without benefits. The cornerstone in the foundation of his life. The one who got him. Who understood. Who made him laugh and listened when he needed to talk. She ribbed him about his dates, trash-talked about everything from Scrabble to her fantasy football team kicking the crap out of his. She was one of the guys—albeit, one who happened to come stocked with a wholly different set of enticing amenities. She was his friend.
In his head and in his heart he knew exactly how she fit. Where she belonged. What he wanted. Only when she looked at him like she was now, his cock got ideas about putting her in other positions altogether. Ideas he wouldn’t risk acting on. Not even for a taste of the sweet, wet mouth that had been tormenting him on and off since high school…and ruthlessly for the last months.
“Anyone would have done it. Any one of the guys.”
“But it’s always you,” she murmured softly. “It always has been.”
He gritted his teeth as her fists unfurled between them, resting too damn hot against his chest.
Don’t do it, man. Don’t even think about it.
What the hell had he been thinking to suggest she move in with him? If he’d had even an inkling of what his place saturated in her pheromones would do to him, he never would have come up with such an “excellent” idea.
But at the time, it all made sense. Her lease was up, his roommate had just moved cross country for a new job, and no other two people on Earth got along as well as they did. Hell, they spent part of almost every day together anyway, so why not share the rent?
Why not? Because for months now—ever since that damn morning when the world turned upside-down—he’d been fighting the need to sink his cock into her. Fighting hard, since the fallout from giving in would be devastating.
Sex with Nichole could never be casual. There was too damn much history between them...
